GETTING A YAHOO! ID

Before you can use Yahoo! Groups, you must have a Yahoo! ID. When potential participants of your group Reply to an invitation to join, if they do not already have a Yahoo! ID, they will be sent to this page at http://edit.yahoo.com/config/eval_register (Figure 1).

NOTE: All your participants who don't already have a Yahoo! ID will also go through this process. You are welcome to use any parts of this page to help them through the process.

Participants must create a Yahoo email account, but when they join your session, they can use any email they wish. Please refer your participants to their own email preferences which they can reach by clicking Edit Membership next to their name at the top of any YG page, once they have joined and signed in.

Creating your Yahoo! ID

You may find it handy to just use the e-mail handle you have for other e-mail accounts. This simplifies the memory process.

NOTE: Be sure to remember/write down your password. Choose a useless password, not the same one as for your online banking. Yahoo is one of the safest services around, but there's no point in being foolish.

Recalling your Password

If you forget your PW, Yahoo will e-mail it to the e-mail address you designate here.  Be sure to remember to change this address if you change ISPs.

Verify Your Registration

Type the word you see in the squiggly box.

Terms of Service

After reading the Acceptance of Terms, click the I Agree box.

Then click the Create My Account box to finish.

Other features you may be offered:

Free Yahoo! Mail

Uncheck this box if you don't want to open another e-mail account. However, you might come to love having it, as you can access Yahoo from anywhere in the world. Some participants use the free account just for the EVO sessions and then delete it.

Customizing Yahoo!

If you fill in this area, you may wind up getting a lot of spam.

Please refer to the Settings in YG tutorial or other help files at the Index page at YG Tutorials by the EVO team for further instructions on customizing your Yahoo! Group.
