nina.liakos Ellen, I have a Chatwing account at chatwing.com. I went to my profile and uploaded a photo but it hasn't shown up here

 

educatingellen Why doesn't your foto appear in the chatwing? I just registered and uploaded from my Google account, so shouldn't the foto be included?

 

nina.liakos Maybe it requires a re-login, but that did not help in my case

nina.liakos I once took a Coursera MOOC where they used Hangouts for "office hours". I don't know how they managed it. Maybe Coursera has a special deal with Google.

 

Alfonso Perfferle It is working great and I am surprised that works pretty good from my phone.

 

Jeff Magoto Nina, I think Coursera and other Moocs just recommend Hangouts because they're viewed as m. accessible to folks than BB Collaborate or Adobe Conect.

 

nina.liakos But the problem is the same, if they are limited to only 10 people. They were using hangouts to broadcast office hour chats to 1000s of people, so they must have done something

 

Jeff Magoto Correct -- and I assume like other Google tools, China and other places get left out.

 

nina.liakos Yes, that is a sad thing. We do not often have Chinese participants in EVO but our choice to use Google effectively bars them from joining. It's something mod teams should keep in mind when choosing an interactive space (G+ Communities) or synchronous chat space (hangout)

 

John Graney Can you use Google Hangouts to show your desktop?

Elizabeth Anne Hey - If you look at the settings wheel here, it offers "activate sound???"

 

nina.liakos I activated it--what does that mean? aha I just got a little bell when I posted that last message. I think if you have the window hidden you can monitor whether or not someone has added to the chat that way like Skype or FB chat
