Google Hangouts

Every time you "chat" with someone from your gmail page, or any time you are in a Google video call, or if you joined a HoA (Hangout on Air), then each time Google creates a "Hangout" which you can access via the hangout icon on a Google+ page or from your gmail page. (You can see the hangout icon in the video)

Think of a hangout as an instant chat group. - AND you can one-click-invite the people in that group to a video chat.

But don't let Google decide...

..create your hangout (i.e. group of 1 to 100 people) and give it a name (so that you can find it easily)

Mute the group (i.e. mute the hangout) to stop getting notifications of each chat message, or enable notifications to join in the chat, or the video call.

In the Hangout app on a mobile - it's very cool, just slide the group to the left, and you are offered the settings
